At Clover Counseling, LLC, we acknowledge that our work takes place on the traditional and contemporary homelands of the Dakota people, specifically the Wahpekute Band. We honor their enduring relationship to this land in what is now known as Saint Paul, Minnesota, and recognize the painful history of land theft, cultural erasure, and systemic oppression that Native communities have faced and continue to resist. We are committed to acknowledging these truths as a step toward reconciliation and healing.
In providing mental health care, we must confront our field's troubling history of upholding systems of oppression. Mental health practices have historically marginalized and pathologized individuals based on race, gender, sexuality, and disability status. Our profession has contributed to ableist narratives that devalue neurodivergence and disability, while also perpetuating harmful systems of racism, misogyny, homophobia, and patriarchy. At Clover Counseling, we are actively working to dismantle these oppressive practices by providing care that is inclusive, respectful, and actively anti-oppressive.
Our practice welcomes and affirms people of all backgrounds, identities, abilities, and experiences. We recognize that each person's journey is unique and valid. We are dedicated to fostering an accessible and supportive space where all individuals feel seen, respected, and empowered in their path toward healing and self-discovery.
